SONY (SO-NET) DEPLOYS SPHERA'S HOSTINGDIRECTOR; YET ANOTHER TIER ONE ACCOUNT WIN FOR THE BEST-IN-CLASS WEB HOSTING AUTOMATION AND MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
Sony Communication Network Corporation (So-net) selected HostingDirector as the standard platform for their mission critical hosting operations
Sphera,Boston, MA - October 2, 2002
Sphera Corporation, the leading developer of Web hosting automation and management software, in conjunction with Japanese master distributor Mitsui, announced that Sony Communication Network Corporation (So-net), the Tokyo-based Internet access and network solutions provider, has deployed Sphera's HostingDirector™ software as the service platform for its "Next Do" Web hosting service. HostingDirector, which will replace So-net's internally developed solution, will enable So-net to dramatically cut costs through more efficient automation and management and an easy-to-use Site owner (VDS™) interface that will reduce support calls.
HostingDirector facilitates cost cutting through Sphera's automation and management functionality, which enables So-net to provision Web sites, resources and even service packages, with ease and in less time. HostingDirector also enables So-net's customers to self-provision revenue-generating services and applications, which increases So-net's profitability. The easy-to-use end-customer interface in Japanese (and 11 other languages) increases customer satisfaction, reduces support calls and contributes to better and richer service.
"So-net's has its own internal hosting automation solution, but we quickly recognized the cost savings we'd achieve utilizing Sphera's HostingDirector software," said Toshiaki Takamiya, General Manager for e-Platform Sales at So-net. "Sphera's administration functionality will enable better management of our customers and resources, and their Site Owner control panel reduces support calls because it's easier for our customers to use," added Takamiya.
HostingDirector offers an Open Application Program Interface (Open API) that gives hosting providers the ability to integrate new applications into existing services. The HostingDirector platform ensures security, reliability and QoS (Quality of Service), and delivers detailed reporting for each account.
"With Toshiba, IIJ and now So-net as Sphera customers, our technology is becoming the standard for hosting in Japan, through the hard work of Japanese partner Mitsui & Co," said Sphera CEO Tamar Naor. Sphera has been working with Mitsui & Co., Ltd since July 2001, with Mitsui serving as the exclusive distributor of HostingDirector in Japan.
"We recognize our customers' needs to grow their business and continuously offer more services. That's why we created a future-proof Web hosting solution based on our open architecture-which enables scaling from one server to an entire data center and across multiple platforms-to give hosting providers and data centers control of their business. Sphera's open architecture and our customer-focused approach have been critical in several recent, yet-to-be-announced key account wins," added Naor.
